22.02.26 Peace vigil in Augusta on Saturday

On Friday, during the peak of the blizzard, Jimmy Midnight and The Maine Paparazzi arrived late at the weekly Women in Black Peace Vigil and left 2 minutes early. In the midst of freezing temps, blowing snow and a howling wind, we looked at each other and said, "We gotta do this again." Other WinB members had contacted me about the importance of holding a peace vigil during the Ukrainian Crisis. So, one was called for Saturday. The first two photos were shot from my 6th floor apartment window prior to leaving for Friday's vigil.
The Augusta Women in Black held a Saturday peace vigil in Augusta on February 26 at 12:30 PM at the corner of Winthrop and State Streets in front of the Lithgow Library. With the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, Augusta Women in Black called for the withdrawal of Russian forces and the beginning of negotiations to end the conflict. Richard and Rita, Bob and Susan, Hot Rod Mike, Jimmy Midnight, Lonesome George and The Maine Paparazzi stood for peace and an end to the Russian invasion of the Ukraine.
The photos of downtown Augusta and the Kennebec River were shot from the 5th floor observation deck in my apartment after Saturday's vigil.
