1. Women in Black in Augusta

22.01.21 WinB celebrating the 20th Anniversary

Richard and Rita, Bob and Susan, Hot Rod Mike, Jimmy Midnight, Lonesome George, Cathryn, Lucia and The Maine Paparazzi held the Women in Black weekly vigil on January 21, 2022 with signs and flags flying and vehicular passengers waving and honking on a beautiful, sunny, 10 degree wintry day. The wind that made the Veterans for Peace flag fly made Lucia seek shelter from the chilling wind behind her sign. Since I'm the photographer, I usually don't have my photo taken, but Richard agreed to shoot me.
Every Friday, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm, the Augusta area Women in Black hold a peace vigil in front of Lithgow Library. Augusta Women in Black have held a weekly peace vigil continuously since 2002, except for the first Friday of the "Trump Pandemic". The first Women in Black vigil was on January 18, 2002, making this year the 20th anniversary. And as such, the Augusta Women in Black have the longest lasting vigil for peace in the State of Maine.
