1. Women in Black in Augusta

19.10.04 WinB Fall

Veterans for Peace Peter Morgan from Raymond was the first to arrive for the October 4 Augusta Women in Black peace vigil. I had sent out an invite to join me at the weekly peace vigil in observance of my birthday. Cathryn Wilson, one of the founders of Augusta Women in Black, provided me with a ride and a loaf of pumpkin spice bread with blueberries. Baha'i Dennis Cline dropped by. Ace reporter Lance Tapley brought me Hannah Arendt's "The Origins of Totalitarianism". Hot Rod Mike King brought me a Veterans for Peace button. Occupy Kim Cormier came from Thorndike to celebrate my birthday. Jarody came down all the way from Aroostook County. Farm girl Lucia Robinson arrived late, but she, like me, is recovering from a heart ailment this past summer. And finally, mother of all Heather Curtis arrived with a sunflower for me. After the peace vigil, Jimmy Midnight and I smoked some great medicinal cannabis and got lost in the supermarket.
Since beginning in 2002, Augusta Women in Black has been continually holding weekly peace vigils in Augusta in front of Lithgow Public Library on Friday from 12:30 to 1:00 PM. Please consider joining us.
