16.12.30 WinB Winter Storm Fortis

Winter storm Fortis roared into Central Maine on Thursday afternoon, and by Friday morning, over 12 inches of wet, heavy snow had fallen. Since the road outside my apartment was too slick for auto travel, I walked down Green Street to Anne's solar home and caught a ride to the corner of Winthrop and State for the weekly Women in Black vigil. As noted before, when you hold an outdoor vigil in Maine during the winter, you not only need to bundle up, but you also have to have a snow shovel handy. George and Lucia brought snow shovels, and we started scooping out space for the peace vigil. Cathryn, Anne, Lucia, Jimmy, George and the Maine Paparazzi held the last Women in Black peace vigil of 2016, having completed 15 years of weekly peace vigils.
Augusta Women in Black vigil for peace every Friday in front of Lithgow Library in Augusta, Maine from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.
