16.01.06 Rally to Push for the Impeachment of Governor Paul LePage at State House

A rally was held outside the State House on 1/06/16 to push for the impeachment of Governor Paul LePage. At the same time, Tea Party supporters of Governor LePage gathered nearby shouting “We love our Governor “ to drown out the pro-impeachment's press conference. In response, supporters of LePage's impeachment chanted “Bully”. Capitol Security intervened, and the press conference took place without incident. Maine State Representatives Jeffrey Evanglos and Ben Chipman called for the impeachment of Governor LePage for abuse of power. At the end of the press conference, organizers Rebecca Halbrook (Democrat) and Cushing Samp (GOP) entered the State House and delivered petitions bearing the signatures of 20,000 Maine citizens asking the State Legislature to impeach Governor LePage.
