18.03.24 Lenten Peace Vigil for Disarmament at GD/BIW in Bath

Lonesome George and The Maine Paparazzi joined 12 other Maine peace activists at the Lenten Peace Vigil for Disarmament at GD/BIW in Bath on March 24, 2018, the day before Palm Sunday. Global Network leader Bruce Gagnon had ended his fast in opposition to L.D. 1781, “An Act To Encourage New Major Investments in Shipbuilding Facilities and the Preservation of Jobs”, also known as "Corporate Welfare for General Dynamics". On this Saturday at 12 Noon, there were no workers leaving at the middle gate. On the way back to the administration building, marchers speculated that perhaps GD/BIW management had reduced overtime as a way of punishing workers and the Machinists Union for speaking out against the tax giveaway bill presently stalled in the Maine State Legislature.
