21.03.10 Cannabis Supporters Petitioning Maine State Legislators to Amend Rules and Regulations Regarding Medical Cannabis at the Augusta Civic Center
Over 125 cannabis supporters gathered in front of the Augusta Civic Center to petition arriving Maine State Legislators to amend rules and regulations regarding Medical Cannabis on March 10, 2021. During the Trump pandemic, legislators meet at the Augusta Civic Center instead of the State Capitol Building. Organized by Dawson Julia and Cynthia Soma Hernandez to greet legislators when they arrive at 7 AM. Signs, T-shirts, buttons, stickers and info leaflets were provided to cannabis supporters. Who, in turn, engaged legislators in banter and conversation while wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
As it is in these days, a fringe group of Trump supporters and anti-maskers showed up and took over the section where the legislators entered the building. Earlier, the cannabis supporters tried to set-up a peaceful gauntlet for legislators, but were informed by Capitol Security that they couldn't, and in turn, the cannabis supporters disbanded. Then the right wingers set-up a gauntlet, argued with Capitol Security and stayed despite orders not to. I guess justice is blind sometimes.
