20.05.30 Alewives in Damariscotta Mills

Travelled down the Sheepscot River to Damariscotta Mills with Ms. Liberty on Saturday, May 30, 2020 to watch the annual alewives run. Or as the alewives say, "spawn or die".
The annual alewives festival has been cancelled this year because of the "Trump Pandemic" and as such, no one is allowed access to the walkway along the old alewives wooden chute, nor the walkway going up next to the rock encrusted pools that the alewives use to climb the ladder to Damariscotta Lake.
Visitors can view the alewives from the bridge on Route 215, or do as one adventurer and wade out into the stream to see the alewives up close.
The seagulls didn't eat the dead alewives, leaving them to be consumed by eels. And as usual, the seagulls lined up for the annual live alewives smorgasbord.
