Beautiful late summer skies and temps greeted 20,727 people who attended the first day of the Maine Common Ground Country Fair in Unity. As usual, the Coffeeman, Doug Hufnagel, was selling hot coffee next to the south parking lot. After walking through the Low Impact Forestry area, fairgoers lined up at the Pine Gate prior to the 9 AM opening while food vendors Richard Morgan, Steve Aucoin and Sal Crisci awaited the onslaught. Fair troubadour Martin Swinger entertained exhibitors inside the Social and Political Action tents. Christopher McCabe, Portland based Cannabis business attorney, gave a talk on Maine's medical and adult use marijuana laws in the SPA speaker's tent. Volunteers in the community kitchen prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for hundreds of fair volunteers.
